LaSource Facilitates 1001's Acquisition of LaLiga Broadcasting Rights for the 2024/2025 Season in Iraq

Paris, France - The Arabic-language streaming service 1001 has announced the successful acquisition of the co-exclusive LaLiga broadcasting rights for Iraq. As strategic advisors on this media rights project, LaSource assisted 1001 in the preparation and negotiation of this unique partnership in the region.

Launched in 2023, 1001 has quickly attracted millions of users through its hyper-localised, high-quality, and exclusive content and identified the opportunity to expand its rich portfolio with premium sports rights. LaSource supported 1001 in the preparation, commercial, and contract negotiations with LaLiga to successfully launch the new offering this week.

This multi-year partnership to stream LALIGA EA Sports gives 1001 access to all 380 matches from LALIGA, live and on-demand, in full HD (1080p) on supported devices. Beyond the acquisition of live rights, 1001 has grander ambitions to combat the digital piracy of content in the region through cutting-edge technology and innovative content for enhanced viewing.

Commenting on the partnership, William Page, Co-founder and Chief Strategy Officer of 1001 said, “LaSource has proven to be an invaluable partner, bringing together a deep expertise of the media landscape, streaming technology and the legal particularities of sports broadcasting. Leander and his team have been instrumental in negotiating and securing this significant milestone for 1001 and for sports fans across Iraq."

Leander Monbaliu, Chief Business Officer at LaSource, added: “We’re incredibly proud of partaking in such a unique journey, where for the first time, Iraqi fans will be able to enjoy LaLiga’s top games legally, in high quality and catered to their interests. The 1001 project is truly innovative and has great prospects.”
