INNOVATION PROGRAM FOR SPORTS FEDERATIONS
The Sports Foundry is an innovation programme addressing the most pressing questions sports federations face. In collaboration with ThinkSport and Havas Sports, we help them leverage innovation, startups and tech trends to make their organisation more agile and innovative.
The global sports industry is entering a new cycle of disruptive wealth destruction/creation, and very few federations have managed to implement a clear and valuable innovation strategy because they don’t have the resources to set up and operationalise it. The traditional business model is outdated and fails to capture maximum upside. The Sport Foundry aims to help federations best prepare for such business transformation
CONTEXT: INTERNATIONAL FEDERATIONS CHALLENGES
THE SPORTS FOUNDRY PROPOSAL
The Sport Foundry programme is divided into two main activities: Innovation Audit & Innovation Sprint.
We provide year-round engagements through sourcing and pilots, knowledge capital exchange, communication stories and events opportunities.
Since 2022, we provided five international federations with a thorough diagnosis of the effectiveness of their current innovation capabilities. We onboard them on the audit phase of the programme to better understand their innovation vision and objectives through a series of interviews and surveys to suggest or improve their innovation strategy.
INTERNATIONAL FEDERATIONS SUPPORTED
HOW WE DIAGNOSED THEIR INNOVATION CAPACITIES
To measure the importance of innovation for each federation and their needs, we conducted a complete audit in collaboration with ThinkSport and Havas Sports. We have identified key themes and priorities to perform through our tailor-made method.
We prepared the audit with IF top management and desk analysed their documents, to select the right approach to conduct the audit.
KICK-OFF MEETING
We interviewed key decision makers from IF to get first insights in their current innovation activities, challenges, and needs.
STAFF SURVEY
We distributed a survey internally within IF to collect the needs and POVs from the staff who will be active in the business transformation.
INTERVIEWS
We conducted several sessions to discuss the audit result, provide a first proposal, and design an innovation strategy v1.0.
WORKSHOPS
We delivered a report to start/improve their innovation journey, with a game-plan for execution with choice of scenarios.
